Dr. Birju Bartoli

Dr. Birju Bartoli served as Executive Director of Systems, Strategy, and Transformation. In 2018, she was named Executive Director of Performance and Improvement. Birju Bartoli was working in the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2022.

She supervised the construction of the first hospital of its sort in the United Kingdom, the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, which opened its doors in June 2015.

Since joining the trust in 2003 as an NHS management trainee, Birju has held a variety of operational positions, ranging from manager to deputy director.

She has a PhD in cancer research and a degree in applied biochemistry, among other healthcare credentials.
